Sandy would
tell me all of these things, over the phone.
But yet on
the Discussion forum she says that she saw the abuse, and the things that
were going on in that house.

CATOR was asked
about a cassette tape that she had previously provided to Director Robbie
R. Lowery, of DCI. CATOR said the cassette tape contains a message that
her daughter, SANDRA MALONEY, left on CATOR's answering machine on July
9, 1997. CATOR said on that day, she was driving from Green Bay back to
Madison. CATOR said she had been spending some time with SANDY and helping
out with the kids. CATOR said prior to leaving Green Bay, she had telephoned
JOHN MALONEY and told him to come over to SANDY's residence and take their
kids for the night because SANDY was upset. CATOR said SANDY was upset
because she was afraid that she was going to lose the kids to JOHN in the
divorce. CATOR said JOHN did not come over and take the kids. She said
JOHN turned this around to make SANDY look like a bad mother, which was
the reason there was the Guardian Ad Litem appointed to represent the kids
in the divorce.

I hope I haven't
caused more trouble - I am sorry that I called John & Ginny that night
when Sandy was all hyper.
My Dad did
come and get us the night of July, 9th. My Grandmother claims that this
night did not happen now.

I went to my
Psychiatrist, Dr. Richard Schramm, to get some medication to help me calm
down, on Sept. 10. I told him that Sandy and John were going through a
nasty divorce and Custody Battle for the children. He asked me if John
had done anything to the children. I said I didn't know and I hoped not.
He said, when they do things like that, they usually do it to children
too. I just about started crying because I am so worried about Matthew,
the 12 year old - he is having Migraine Headaches all the time and has
lost so much weight.~ Sandy wants to get him into the Doctor.
Then on Sept.
16, I received this letter from the Green Bay Police Department Internal
Affairs. I never realized that Dr. Schramm was mandated to report this.
I have been shaking ever since.

On above date
Capt. Hamilton and myself interviewed Lola C. Cator. She had made accusations
to her psychiatrist
Dr. Schramm
about Officer Maloney.
She told us
that the incidents she was referring to happened m 1994? Lola was being
treated by Dr. Schramm in 1994. She stated that she at that time never
mentioned these incidents to him. We discussed each incident that she claimed
had occurred. Lola gave us names of people that she claimed were aware
of the incidents. During the discussion it was discovered that Lola had
told most of them about what had happened and they did not have first hand
knowledge of the incidents.
She felt John
was trying to get her daughter Sandy committed and that he was trying to
get the children taken away from Sandy.
Her comment
before leaving was that "John would never harm the children." Lola included
in the papers she gave us copies of her "Daily Log" as she refers to it
as. It shows the amount of medication she takes daily.

The boys came
and told us that the only thing John and Tracy were doing, at Gin &
Barb's house, was to go in the basement and have sex.

Now as I look
at my Daily Logs - I now know why John was running out to Ginny’s all the
time and would not speak civil to Sandy. He wanted Sandy to go to Hazelton
in Mn, after Bellin Psy. Hosp.

Sheila Berry
sent a letter to Tracy, (John's girlfriend when Sandy was killed), by way
of Tracy's Mother. When Tracy opened this letter, the only thing that was
written on it was, "JODY--JODY--JODY!" It sounds like Sheila is threatening
Tracy.

The following
happened the day before I met with you: My Mother and I checked into The
Regency Hotel, Sunday about 1 p.m.. We picked Sandy, Matt, Sean and Aaron
up and brought them down there at that time. They spent the day there and
then I drove them home before 6 p.m.. Sandy called me at the Regency at
6:10 p.m., and said to come back and hear the message on her answering
machine. In a deep, rough, man's voice, which said, "CATOR, CATOR, CATOR."
The voice sounded like John. The call was ID'd, "Sept. 21, 1:52 p.m., Payphone
# 920-432-9766, Regency Hotel. We went back to the Regency and found the
Payphone with that number. Sandy taped the message. A couple of days before,
Sandy had been ordered to give John her new number.

John is not
to have any contact with Tracy or our Family. Tonight he called my house
and left a message. I have it taped and will go to the authorities with
it.
In the Wisconsin
prison system the call is collect. The inmate must provide his name, and
the individual receiving the call must choose to accept the call by pressing
a number on the telephone. Also the inmate has a list of people that they
can call, and can only call the people on that list. Lola Cator is not
on that list. There is no way that my Dad could have left a message on
her answering machine.

CATOR then produced
a small, spiral bound notebook, and looked at 02/10/98 and said at 8:48
a.m., SANDY had called her and told her she was going to go work and to
see JUDI KATERS. CATOR said SANDY was going to see KATERS in order to get
her driver's license back. CATOR said SANDY was also doing wallpaper work
with her friend, SARAH LNU. CATOR said SANDY also said at 1:15 p.m., SARAH
was coming over to take her to work. CATOR said they also talked about
CATOR coming to Green Bay the following day to help SANDY with some errands.
CATOR said the
next contact with SANDY was at 3:10 p.m., when SANDY called her again.
This conversation lasted approximately ten minutes. CATOR said SANDY said
JOHN MALONEY would be bringing the kids over at 6:00 p.m. CATOR said SANDY
kept telling her how much she loved her and that she was so sorry for what
she had done. SANDY also told CATOR that she got her driver's license back.
CATOR said at
6:00 p.m., SANDY again called her, and the conversation lasted ten minutes.
CATOR said SANDY was upset and said JOHN did not bring the kids over. CATOR
said SANDY stated that she was going to give up trying to fight for the
kids, because JOHN is going to get the kids anyway. CATOR said SANDY also
talked about moving to Madison to be near CATOR. CATOR said SANDY was disappointed
because JOHN was not letting her see the kids. CATOR does not know if JOHN
had called SANDY to tell her that he would not be bringing the kids over
at 6:00 p.m. CATOR said during this phone conversation, SANDY sounded very
depressed.
A YEAR LATER
AT THE TRIAL, A DIFFERENT STORY
BY MR. PAULUS:
Question:
Now, Mrs. Cator, did you have any expectation that John
Maloney would

Sandy said that the boys were coming over at six, that
John had called
and said he was going to bring the boys
over at six.
Question:
When you last spoke to Sandy at 6:03 in the evening,
the last time
you actually got through to her, what was
her mood in
that call?
Answer: She was waiting
for the boys to come. She was sounded
good, and she
especially sounded good to me because she
was going to
let me come and help her.
Question:
Had you made any plans for coming up the next day?
Answer:
Yes. I told her I'd come up and help her and we'd get
her driver's
license.
